About This Product
EIOS T2-U is an uninhibited mineral electrical insulating oil for transformers and switchgear, supplied to IEC 60296:2020 as Type B, TVBU. Refined from naphthenic or paraffinic distillate, it pairs low viscosity and very low moisture and particle content with strong dielectric performance: breakdown voltage is 30 kV min as delivered and 70 kV min after treatment.
A transformer oil insulates the windings and carries heat to the radiators, and it can do both only while it stays clean and unoxidised. Oxidation by-products are polar, conductive and prone to form sludge: sludge chokes cooling ducts, and acids degrade the cellulose paper whose ageing finally limits transformer life. Uninhibited oil has no synthetic antioxidant added and draws its oxidation resistance from sulphur and aromatic compounds that refining leaves in place. Its induction period is usually shorter than an inhibited grade's, but it ages steadily and predictably rather than falling away once an additive is spent, which keeps it the preference of some utilities and specifications. Do not mix inhibited and uninhibited oils without compatibility testing.
Typical duties are power and distribution transformers, switchgear and circuit breakers, reactors and capacitors, tap changers and instrument transformers, for first fill as well as topping up.
BG Petro Chemicals supplies T2-U to a specification covering acidity, water content, breakdown voltage, dielectric dissipation factor, oxidation stability, interfacial tension and flash point. The oil is non-corrosive in the corrosive sulphur test, with PCB and DBDS not detectable. Packing is in steel drums or in bulk by ISO tank.
