    Paraffin Candle Wax (48–57°C)

    About This Product

This candle wax combines paraffin wax (CAS 8002-74-2) and a hydrotreated heavy paraffinic distillate (CAS 64742-54-7), given in the safety data sheet as 92.6% and 7.4% of the blend. It is specified at a melting point of 48–57 °C (ASTM D87) and an oil content of 5.0–10.0% (ASTM D721), with needle penetration below 60 dmm at 25 °C, a flash point of 200 °C min, specific gravity of 0.81–0.83 at 15/4 °C and ASTM colour of 2.5 max.

Candles are the recommended use named in the safety data sheet. The retained oil makes this a softer, more pliable wax than fully refined paraffin, so it is generally worked into container candles and candle blends, often alongside harder paraffins or other waxes. Fragrance retention, burn and surface finish depend on the whole formulation and should be confirmed in trial pours.

The specification quotes a kinematic viscosity of 3.50–5.00 cSt without a test temperature, so agree the test conditions, physical form and packaging before ordering. The latest specification sheet, an SDS and the certificate for the batch offered should be requested, and the wax checked against the intended candle type and any rules that apply.
