About This Product
Di(2-propylheptyl) phthalate (DPHP, CAS 53306-54-0) is a clear liquid phthalate ester made from a branched C10 alcohol, and that chain length is what separates it from the restricted phthalates.
Restrictions have targeted the low molecular weight phthalates, those with C4 to C6 alkyl chains, whose reproductive-toxicity classification removed DEHP, DBP and BBP from general use. With C10 chains, DPHP is not classified in that group. Together with DINP and DIDP it became one of the high molecular weight phthalates that compounders moved to as the restrictions took hold. Confirm the current position on the safety data sheet.
In PVC the longer chain lowers volatility and migration and improves electrical resistivity and heat ageing; against DEHP, the trade-offs are slower gelation and poorer low-temperature flexibility. Wire and cable insulation is the main outlet, with further use in gloves, shoe materials, leather clothing, construction materials and PVC products generally. Packs: flexitank (22,000 kg per 20' container), 190 kg drum (15,200 kg per container) or 920 kg IBC tote (18,400 kg per container). BG Petro Chemicals confirms grade and specification at quotation, and specifications and safety data are available on request.
