    About This Product

Tyre and technical rubber compounders add anti ozone wax, also known as antiozonant wax or rubber protective wax, to help protect finished parts against ozone cracking. It is a selected hydrocarbon wax blend, typically built from paraffin and microcrystalline fractions whose balance governs how the wax moves through the rubber; the exact blend for each grade is confirmed on enquiry. Grades come as beads or pastilles, with block grades subject to availability, and range from white or cream to pale yellow or amber.

The protection is physical. In the period after vulcanisation, wax travels out of the compound and settles on the surface as a thin film that limits contact between the rubber and atmospheric ozone. The film does its best work while a part is at rest, such as a tyre in storage, which is why it is described as static ozone protection. Tyre sidewalls, seals, gaskets, hoses and moulded parts left exposed to the air are typical candidates, as long as the grade suits the compound.

How well the film performs comes down to the wax blend, the compound it sits in, temperature, migration rate and the service the part sees. Repeated flexing can disrupt the film, so tyre formulations may also need chemical antiozonants and other protective additives alongside the wax. It is a compounding ingredient used during manufacture, not a dressing for end users to put on finished tyres.

Grade selection starts with your details: the rubber formulation or application, expected operating temperatures, processing conditions, preferred physical form and packaging. BG Petro Chemicals then confirms melting or congealing point, oil content, penetration, viscosity, colour and addition level for the chosen grade; there is no universal dosage, so these should be validated in your own compound trials. Beads and pastilles are normally packed in 25 kg paper or plastic bags, subject to grade availability, with bulk bags or block packing by agreement. TDS, SDS and available batch documentation are confirmed with the quotation, and no approval or certification by any tyre maker is implied.
