    About This Product

Passenger car motor oil is the largest market for Base Oil 100N-HVI. Engine oil formulations generally pair a light neutral with a heavier one, and this grade supplies the light fraction; how much of it goes into the blend has a large say in how the finished oil performs in cold cranking. Industrial users put it into hydraulic oils, circulating oils and lubricants for presses, machine tools and plant systems, sometimes on its own and sometimes together with the 150N-HVI.

With a viscosity index of at least 95, the grade helps a multigrade meet two competing demands: flowing quickly at a cold start and keeping an adequate film at operating temperature. The less a base stock thins on heating, the smaller the dose of viscosity modifier required. Viscosity is set at 18.5 – 21.0 cSt at 40 °C, with pour point max -6 °C. An open cup flash point (ASTM D-92) of min 177 °C indicates that light, easily evaporated material has been taken out, and lower volatility translates into lower oil consumption in service. Carbon residue (max 0.04 wt %) and colour (ASTM max 1.5) are kept low, and with acidity no higher than 0.05 mg KOH/g the additive package, including anti-wear and rust-inhibiting components, starts from a neutral base.

The 100 in the name is a legacy of Saybolt Universal Seconds, the unit in which neutral viscosities were once expressed, and HVI identifies the high viscosity index class. Production begins with a light vacuum distillate that is solvent extracted to remove aromatics, dewaxed and then finished, yielding a pale stock with low acidity and a consistent response to additives.

On either side of it, the 65N-HVI is mainly a trimming and specialty stock, while the 150N-HVI forms the main body of most industrial blends. Base Oil 100N-MVI carries the same nominal number but is a different product: its viscosity index is lower and its solvency higher, which suits metalworking and process applications. For engine oils, where temperature stability is what matters, the HVI grade is the one to choose.

Origin is Pakistan, and indicative availability is 1,500 – 2,500 MT per month. Plants with storage tanks normally receive bulk or ISO tank parcels; for smaller requirements BG Petro Chemicals supplies IBC tanks, flexi bags and drums, and contract-specific packaging can be arranged. Every lot has its own certificate of analysis, and the TDS and SDS are available on request.
